<br />
I figure I should give a little bit of a back story because as you all know Hayward Field is usually on lockdown.<br />
<br />
After the last home meet in 2007, Hayward was soon to get a makeover for the Olympic Trials. My coach, Lance Deal, figured that old Hayward should go out with a bang. As the last event was ran, Lance and a backhoe moved onto the infield and parked in the middle of the javelin sector. The fans knew something was up and on Lance's command started a rhythmic clap. The backhoe dug the first hole into what would be the new and improved Hayward Field, with the crowds cheers of excitement. As all of this was going on Im pretty sure I looked over to my roommate Sarah and said "Tonight is the night".<br />
<br />
We had talked about throwing flaming hammers on and off but never really had a place to do it without getting in trouble. Coach was all for the idea but we could never really tell him because he was coach. So you all can understand our excitement when we saw the field being torn up knowing that we had found our perfect place to throw.<br />
<br />
After the meet, we sent the word out to a few teammates and waited until dark. We walked over to Hayward with the supplies and my parents in tow just in case we were arrested, seriously. Waiting under the scoreboard for everyone to arrive, the grounds crew saw us. Thinking we were busted they shouted out "Go ahead and do whatever you are going to do"and the rest is history:).<br />
<br />
To my knowledge this was the last time that hammers were thrown on the infield. I would have to believe it because after Hayward was made over, the head coach made sure that we knew the consequences if we ever did that again.<br />
<br />
Please excuse the language in the video but we were pretty dang excited.<br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;">What can I say, I had the wrong impression of what a <i>Running Camp</i> consisted of. </span><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"> </span></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;">When I arrived at Sleepy Beauty Resort in Leavenworth, Washington with the rest of the “campers”, I felt a sense of relief. Walking through</span><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"> the woods, lounging in the cabins and spotty cell phone service put a smile on my face that made my cheeks burn. </span></span></span><br />
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">The next few days was filled with amazing food (thrower approved), inspiring talks with fellow teammates and a few non-thrower approved activities;). So many memories were made that I will be replaying over and over with the same smile that was plastered on my face from the start. </span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">The highlight for me during the retreat was putting faces and personalities to all the teammates that I chat with via Twitter and Instagram. It was not only amazing to meet you all and talking with you but hearing your stories of why you do what you do put a new light on what I do. Like many athletes we can get caught up in pursuing our goals, thriving off those around us but never really stopping to “smelling the roses”. Being able to stop and get to know so many amazing ladies filled my heart with the comfort of pursuit. My heart is ready to pursue and pounce on this coming </span><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">year. </span><br />

<br />
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">I can go on and on about what took place at the camp but I don't want to bore you with words, Ill just let the pictures do the talking:).</span></div>

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
This past weekend I drove out to Parker, Arizona. It is about a 5 hour drive east of San Diego. It sits right below Lake Havasu along the Colorado River.</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
Long ago my grandma and grandpa started a tradition of vacationing with the family at the River. It stemmed from our love of waterskiing, driving/watching fast boats and of course getting away from the grind that life can be. Taking off a week right as school started, writing papers on the Parker dam/river, waterskiing in the early hours of the morning, waking out to John Phillips Susan blaring and pancake Sundays are memories that I will never forget and will look back with a smile each time I think about them. </div>

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
About 10 years ago, my grandfather passed away and per his wishes we spread his ashes down the Parker Strip. No other place was a fitting as the River, to lay him to rest. Here is where he build a tradition that we as the family will carry on to the future generations. </div>

The River is where I go when I want to get away. Away from my cell phone, TV and any other communication to the outside world, due to the lack of service. Reading along side the river, laying out in the sun, sitting on my favorite floating dock are just a few of activity that I partake in now. With my trips being few and far between, I soak up as much River time as I can when I go because I know that when I get home, its back to the daily grind. A grind that I love in the hammer ring but side-eye at when its behind a computer. </div>

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
This past year has been about learning and trusting. With a couple over 70, many in the 69’s and a few below that, I can look back on my most consistent season with a smile. With my many ups and few downs, I have a clear idea of what I need to work on next year to make it the best season of my career. Can anyone guess what that would be? l’ll give you a hint; it’s the thing that likes to allude me when I least expect it. :)</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
Confidence is my indestructible happiness. But when doubt falls off the shelf and I forget where it goes, it come back to haunt me. I know what I need to do to keep it from rolling off but just like throwing the hammer, it takes practice and consistency. (If none of that made sense, just know that majority of athletes are crazy and we have crazy ways of DEALing with emotions; mine—I put them on a shelf so I see them at all times).</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
Overall this season wouldn't have happened without some great people on my side. Thank you to all my family and friends, Oiselle, Adidas, USATF Foundation and of course the great staff and Venegas Crew at the Olympic Training Center.</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
To the likes of one of my beloved Oiselle teammates, I am going to start blogging about my adventures in San Diego and travels this summer. I think I live a pretty boring life but anytime I bring it up to Fleshman, she is amused and wants more. They will be short and sweet with pictures of mountains and water, but I promise they will all have a good story behind them. </div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Helvetica;">
Cheers to the off-season! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vmoaxS6pGJY/VKWJIzHPF7I/AAAAAAAABe8/OcwVoWzsIzo/s1600/playing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vmoaxS6pGJY/VKWJIzHPF7I/AAAAAAAABe8/OcwVoWzsIzo/s1600/playing.jpg" height="243" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
You see, I have an imagination that can go on for days. I can make up the best of situations or the worst of situations. It can be good but can also be exhausting. If I ever get going down the worst case scenario path, it takes a lot of effort to pull myself out of it. If I would just see situations, people and moods for what they are, my mind will stop spinning (just my body..ha) and my mind will be at ease.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Along with this resolution, I promise that I will keep y'all updated on how my life and training is going. 2014 ended great with where I am at in my training and 2015 is looking to be a special year for me. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And as I promised Fleshman, I will write about my beach adventures~</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cheers to 2015! Let's make it better than the last :)</div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">The weekend prior I was in a kick ass bar meeting some of the most </span>influencial<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"> ladies that I have met to date. I could not have imagine how much love, support and pure joy these ladies would bring to my life. </span></span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">Getting ready to board the plane in my fresh Oiselle duds, I kept thinking<i> “Are they really going to sign a thrower? I know nothing about running other than I try to do as little of it as I can.”</i></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; min-height: 13px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">Heading up to Canada my Twitter feed, Facebook page and Instagram blew up. </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Tweets of “</span><i style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Good Luck</i><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">”, “</span><i style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Throw the rock</i><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">”, “</span><i style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Thrower Love</i><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">” came pouring in. I was shocked, not only by the social media love but they had not forgot about me. </span><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 11px; min-height: 13px;">

<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">Now this is where the waterworks begin. Passion and strength is what Oiselle and I share. Passion for this sport we love and strength because we are going to succeed no matter what. Oiselle came into my life when I needed support the most. From getting to meets, to the emotional support, to all the amazing clothes; that night at the bar made a HUGE impact on my journey to Rio. </span></div>

<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Sacramento holds a special place in my heart. Here at the 2004 Olympic Trials, I got my first taste of being a senior/elite athlete. A taste that has never left my body and has only become richer through the years. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Cheers to all that are competing this week/weekend. To my Oiselle peeps, I will be cheering loud...cause I </span>don't<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"> know how else to cheer for ya;). </span></span></div>

<br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">One topic has been stuck in my head for the last few days, and is something that I feel is important to blog about; drugs in my sport of track and field.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px; min-height: 17px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; margin: 0px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">I can't imagine the reasoning that goes on in an athletes mind when they justify taking a Performance Enhancing Drug, or PED. But, I can tell you why I never have, and never will: </span><b>My integrity is worth more to me than an Olympic medal.</b></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px; min-height: 17px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">It seems to me that integrity gets lost when ones dream becomes an obsession, when an athlete's mind can't see past their immediate goal, when they want their dream to come true, too soon. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px; min-height: 17px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">PEDs are short cuts. Short cuts that not only hurt athletes in the long run but hurt the sports that we love. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px; min-height: 17px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Is there a solution to this problem? I hope so. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px; min-height: 17px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">This situation that my sport has to deal with is nothing different from any other Olympic sport. Every athlete has an obsession with their sport. If they didn't, they wouldn't be on the Olympic path. Some athletes deal with their obsession is a healthy way, and some do not. Athletes either decide to let their body's develop through intense training, while others become impatient, or greedy, and attempt to speed up the process with illegal performance enhancing drugs. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px; min-height: 17px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 14px; margin: 0px;">
<span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">So, here is my testament to the world; I have never ingested or exposed my body to any performance enhancing drugs. Period. Never will. </span></div>

<br /><div style="text-align: center;">
<i>“165 Coach?!?!” </i></div>
<i><div style="text-align: center;">
<i>“Yes...165lb to 168lb”</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>“Well how am I suppose to do that ?!?!? I have been trying for years to gain weight…”</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>“Eat!!! Eat In and Out at least 3 times a week and none of that Protein Style bull” Ha :).</i></div>
</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
After years of “trying” to gain weight, I finally did it! I have gain 12 pounds since I started training this year and I am pretty damn proud of myself.<div>
<br />For years, I “tried” to gain weight. I when I say try, I mean that I would just eat what was on my plate and call it good. Maybe a few protein shakes during heavy lifting. To be honest I did not understand my body . I was scared that I would just gain fat and that it would affect my throw. <br /><br />My focus for gaining the weight was just to eat more. Eat more of everything, add more fats to my diet and make sure that I had dessert after dinner. These ideas were not my own but my amazing strength coach's, who every step of the way made sure that ate enough for the day. <br /><br />I know it sounds silly but it sucked the first couple of weeks. I was not used to being that full or eating whatever I wanted. I also started drink 2 to 3 protein shakes a day, which I give a ton of credit to, for the weight gain. <br /><br />Gaining these pounds has given me a new sense of what my body can do. My preconceived idea of weight gain, has been thrown out the window. I am excited to see how these extra pounds will convert to my throw. <br /><br /> The added bonus with these extra pounds is that I can pick up a few new/ bigger items from Oiselle. The large long sleeves now gotta go up a size. Gotta cover up these "guns" somehow :). <br /><br />165 was to easy, let's see if I can get to 170 :)</div>

<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">September 30th is when I step back into ring and back into the weight room. I will have a month of conditioning to get my body ready to lift my butt “on”. Ha! Of all the years that I have “tried” to gain weight, I am serious this year. I will gain weight!!! </span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.15; white-space: pre-wrap;">It may take me some time to get used to eat a ton and being in the weight room a little longer but I got look on the bright side; I get to eat whatever I want. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Over the summer I have had some time to think, think about why I keep my dream alive. I could say the old clique response “Because you never stop chasing your dream” but for me the chasing is not the whole answer. Im stubborn, hard-headed and loyal to this damn ball and wire. I will not let my dream pass me by; I will sacrifice to get my dream and when I am training, their is no other place I will rather be than in the ring. Dont get me wrong, their are a few aspects of my life that I wish were “enhanced” but that will come with time and I will follow the clique quote “good things come to those who wait”. Now that I think about it, that is a pretty damn good quote and I should live/train by it more:). </span></div>

The other cool fact about this company , I'm their first thrower!! <br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><i>“The only way to maximize potential for performance is to be
calm in the mind” </i></b></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
There is no better feeling in the world than to be calm. After a summer of living life and
having fun every chance I could get, calm has come over my mind and body. Not much
is going to take that feeling away either.<br />
<br />
I have to give credit to my
coach, Lance Deal. He told me, <i>“I really hope that you are appreciating your
life right now, you have it pretty good”</i>…or something like that. ;) After his words sunk in, I said to myself, "<i>I really do have it good".</i> I can
do whatever I want, whenever I want and not have to answer to anyone. Whenever I start to feel chaos creep into my
life; I sit back, remember to be calm and remind myself that life is pretty
amazing - and enjoy it!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I started back training on October 1st. For
the next four years, Lance will oversee all aspects of my training, with help
from Art Venegas and Jamie Meyers. Art will be the eyes for Lance and reports back to him on my throwing. Jamie will be overseeing my lifting and making sure
that I don’t try to kill myself in the weight room.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Wingdings;"> </span> </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
My first cycle of the year consisted of circuit training:
12 exercises, 3 times through, 3 times a week. I started the cycle doing 3 reps each and each week I add a rep. until I get to 10 reps. Sounds like fun, right? </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Tumbling and
high bar swings have also been added to my training to work on body awareness. Below is a
video proof that I can go do them! Last
week, I did 10 front giants! Not by choice, I didn’t know how to stop and I
just kept going until I slowed down. No
video evidence but I have plenty of witnesses!</div>

Coming into the year my body just feels different. I wish I had the right words to explain it but I am pretty sure that it is connected to the whole calming feeling. This feeling has made my throws feel smoother and my overall confidence in the ring is noticeable. I finally feel that the hammer and I can now be one. :)<br />

I will try to do my best to blog about once a month with video

Everything from hanging out with my friends to paint balling. It is my chance to step fully away from my hammer, and focus on myself and having fun - since that is what my coach prescribed! <br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;">
<tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bCfHwxzokN0/UE1hbUnhUUI/AAAAAAAAAs4/XuqlLR0BlkY/s1600/IMG_1108.JPG" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bCfHwxzokN0/UE1hbUnhUUI/AAAAAAAAAs4/XuqlLR0BlkY/s320/IMG_1108.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Over-the-Line is over the line</td></tr>
</tbody>
</table>
There was not better way to get my summer started than some OMBAC OTL.<br />
<br />
For those of you outside Southern California, OTL stands for Over-the-Line.<i> (Not many people have heard of OTL due to the names of the teams that participate. I would give examples, but I wouldn't want to hurt your virgin eyes ;)</i><br />
<br />
To get a better understanding of the game, check out the OMBAC web-site at<a href="http://draft.blogger.com/%20http://www.ombac.org/over-the-line/otl-rules-of-the-game" target="_blank"> </a><br />
<a href="http://draft.blogger.com/%20http://www.ombac.org/over-the-line/otl-rules-of-the-game" target="_blank">http://www.ombac.org/over-the-line/otl-rules-of-the-game</a>/.<br />
<br />
Basically, one must hit a softball over the line, no base running, only wooden bats and teams soft-toss pitch to each other. I have been attending OTL since I was a little kid. I would partake in the festivities but cheering for my friends and family takes up most my time.<br />
<br />
After I recovered from OTL, it was back to my list.<br />
<br />
I wanted to give back to my body this summer, I figured there was no better way than to kicks its' butt with some yoga. After the season was over, my back felt like it was petrified. Since yoga is just "fancy stretching", I figured I should give it a try. Ever since, my back is feeling looser, and I can rotate evenly on both sides! Some of you may laugh that yoga could kick your butt, but it does, and you should try it!<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6-mo2q10BMk/UE1apOxLrbI/AAAAAAAAAsQ/6MF9K9XiiwQ/s1600/IMG_2192.JPG" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6-mo2q10BMk/UE1apOxLrbI/AAAAAAAAAsQ/6MF9K9XiiwQ/s200/IMG_2192.JPG" width="148" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Paddle Boarding!!!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FiIOu28Kys4/UE1aU75CQBI/AAAAAAAAAsI/z1Sx7f08mVw/s1600/IMG_2334.JPG" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FiIOu28Kys4/UE1aU75CQBI/AAAAAAAAAsI/z1Sx7f08mVw/s200/IMG_2334.JPG" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Top of Iron Mountain</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I can also check off my list: hiking Iron Mountain, hiking Cowles Mountain, paddle boarding, running without an asthma attack, and biking (kinda).<br />
<br />
My latest check mark would be my <i>VACATION</i> to Colorado to see my friends. I say vacation, because I can not remember the last time I went on a trip that did not include my hammer, or family. This trip was just about seeing my friends and having a great time. <br />
<br />
Upon arriving in Colorado, I was off to the Linkin Park and Inubus concert with my buddies Adam and Courtney. This was only my 3rd concert in my life, and I would have to say it was the best. <br />
<br />
The next day was filled with relaxing and a quick run. I ran down to Colorado State University to see Adam and the CSU throwers! It was great to meet them. They all had a blast kicking my butt in the sprints. Can't wait to see how they do this year! <br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Ready to Ride!</td></tr>

The last full day in Colorado was Tour De Fat. Again, if no one has heard of this event check out the web-site: <a href="http://www.newbelgium.com/events/tour-de-fat.aspx">http://www.newbelgium.com/events/tour-de-fat.aspx</a>.<br />
<br />
My buddies and I dressed up in costumes, rode our bikes down the main street in a "parade", and ended the ride with some delicious brews from New Belgium Brewery. It was great to see everyone dressed up, and I got some great ideas for Halloween. <br />
<br />
Before I flew home and back to reality, I stopped off in Heaven... I mean the Coors Brewery. I can not tell you how happy I was to visit this magical place. The smell of malt, the taste of the Rocky Mountain fresh and the awesome vintage shirt was enough to send me home with permanent grin. <br />

<br />
All and all my summer has been great. I have one more month left before I lace my shoes back up and start spinning again. <br />
<br />
I have a few more check marks to get before the months end, and I can't wait to do them.<br />
<br />
Hope everyone is having a great summer and is as excited as I am for football season! Go Ducks, Geaux Tigers and Bolt Up Chargers! <br />

As I walked away from the hammer area at the Olympic Trials, I was numb. I didn't know what to think, what to feel, or even what to say. All I knew was that it hurt, really bad. Essentially, I broke my own heart.</div>

<br />
Even after a month and a half after the event, I still tear up when I think about that day. <br />
<b><br /></b>
<b><i>Why didn't I make it? </i></b><br />
<br />
Couldn't tell ya. There are a few factors I believed played a roll in my performance, but I can't look back on those. Looking back can only cause road blocks in the future. <br />
<br />
In the grand scheme of things, I just had one of my most successful seasons of my career. Two, almost three meets over 70 meters, and my highest finish at an Olympic Trials. I can try to be disappointed in myself, but I have worked so hard this past year on being positive and not getting in my own way, that being disappointed will only cause my mind to slip back down the hill. I know what I am capable of, so does my coach. That is all that matters, and that is what is going to push me through these next few years. <br />
<b><i><br />So, what am I going to do now?</i></b><br />
<br />
I am going to have a lot of fun, that's what! :) (coach prescribed) For the next two months I will be “resting” - code for doing all the things that I have held off from this past year. I have what you could call a <i><b>Bucket List</b></i> of activities that I want to do. I plan to blog about them, so stay tuned!<br />
<br />
Around October, I will lace up my throwing shoes and get back into the ring. After only one week away from my hammer, I miss it. and can't wait to get back to spinning. <br />
<br />
I can't thank everyone enough for all the cheers of support you have all given me this past year. Please know that I read all the messages and take to heart all the positive words of encouragement you all have given me. <br />
<br />
For my family and friends, you all mean the world to me, and I will forever be indebted to you for all the love you have given and showed me. But strap your boots up, you guys got a few more years of watching me spin in circles! :)<br />
<br />
Hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics so far! Finally, Track and Field is on:)<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
My hammer and I have finally come together as one. :)<br />
<br />
I started off the season with a toss of 70.78m at the Oregon Preview, my best opener ever, and I did it in the snow.<br />
<br />
Next up was the Mt. SAC Relays, where I threw 70.18m and placed 4th to a great field of throwers.<br />
<br />
Two weeks later I was back in Eugene for the Oregon Twilight meet, where I fell ill to either, food poisoning, or the 24 hour flu. Not sure which one, but I was not feeling it on meet day and mustered up a throw of 66.35m.<br />
<br />
The Tucson Elite Classic was my last series of meets, and they went pretty well. Day one, I threw 68.54m. Day two, I threw 69.97m. Every meet I am getting closer and closer to hitting a big throw. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My next meet will be the <a href="http://www.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php?event_id=120" target="_blank">Prefontaine Classic</a> in Eugene, Oregon. I will be heading up to Eugene a few days early to see my coach, and get used to the cottonwood floating through the air. My allergies <i>LOOOVVVEEE</i> the cottonwood trees!</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">WW2 Memorial </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As if my meet schedule didn't keep me busy enough, I flew out to Mclean, Virgina for an event with Hilton Worldwide.<br />
<br />
Part of the deal in participating in the Team USA Career Program is to appear at events that promote the Olympics.<br />
<br />
While I was in Virgina, the Road to London Tour made a stop at the Hilton Worldwide Headquarters. I was pleased to meet a ton of Hilton Worldwide employees, and show off my hammer.<br />
<br />
The next morning, before my flight took off, I made a quick trip to Washington DC to see the sights. I have to say, walking around DC made me feel very patriotic. I still get goosebumps when I think of the WW2 memorial and walking through Arlington National Cemetery. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Other than flying around the country, life has been pretty routine; sleep, train, work and sleep some more.</div>
<br />
I hope everyone had an amazing and safe Memorial Day weekend.<br />
